Help- Nuts and Bolts

Post by PrisonCityMatt » Sun Jul 08, 2012 4:41 pm

Is there any reliable place I can get a set of nuts and bolts for a 1966 Honda Scrambler? The guy I bought the bike from over a year ago said everything was there. Its my first bike. I assumed it was all there. Now that I've kinda learned whats what Im now seeing the "whats what" of whats missing. I dont care if its all original or not. Just wanna get a complete set and start bolting this thing back together!

By the way I'm talking about the engine. The bottom end is all fine. Just needs the pistons replaced and I have the parts. Then I can put the top end back together and start putting it all back together.

Stupid question but can I take my parts list to a fastener place and get them there?

Did you look on eBay? There are several active listings for "misc CB CL CA77 bolts" with some specifying engine fasteners....

I seem to recall reading that some of the machine screws are not threaded with ISO standard threads. Hopefully someone will chime in here with more details.

Nuts and bolts

I don't think that they make a set of engine bolts, but you'll notice on ebay that alot of the motorcycle chop shops sell misc hardware which often includes some valuable parts as well. The first thing I would do is contact the person that you bought the bike from to see if he still had them. Most of the bolts are standard metric thread pitch, but a few will be a unique Japanese industrial standard (JIS) these may be more difficult to find.. If you have the original bolts it makes it a lot easier to match them up. If you go on line to one of the honda dealers web sites, I recommend www.westernhillshondayamaha.com and use their parts fiche to look up the correct sizes... if you are looking for the cl77 use 1966 as the year.. it covers all years of manufacture... Once you get the part # it reveals the size in most cases..

3,4,5, and 12mm are the only sizes that changed thread pitch,, even though modern replacements for the other sizes may have different size heads, they will work.
