The title only has the frame/ID (CA78 completely omitted) numbers only. Incomplete under engine. This is the original pink slip from 65. I'm actually waiting for a new reg262 with the correct ID # to finsih registration. Agent put the engine # and that's not noted anywhere in the original paperwork. I haven't done a whole lotta work with DMV besides DL and registration, but I do know that they are sticklers for consistency...even if it's incomplete, i guess. Really want to try and keep my DMV time to a minimum. I'm getting curious to know what the story behind the engine is. PO has passed on so resources are slim.

check the info on this thread;

It might be helpful on registering you bike. I'm not sure why your wanting the Reg 262, a bill of sale (reg 135 , a form you can get on-line instead of by mail like the Reg 262) will work since the bike is over 10 years old and no odometer disclosure is necessary.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out. The contact I dealt with is an agent selling for the owner who passed away 2 years ago. When I went to go pick it up, the agent suggested going to the DMV and getting the registration taken care of. It was not "non-op'd" and had over $525 in fees and back registration. The woman at the DMV said we can get many of the fees waived with an affidavit from the owner stating the what, where, when, and why registration was not paid and/or non-op'd.

I'm currently waiting for all the updated paperwork to try my hand at my local DMV.

Please keep us updated on how this progresses with DMV.

How many years was the bike unregistered? More than 2 but less than the 7 that are reported to be the magic number for dropping out of the dmv computers?

Still wearing it's 1986 tag. DMV stated the last time it was on the system was 1992. I've heard about things dropping off the DMV computer. They found the fees on this bike quick. It's in their best interest to. I'm happy that they at least gave information to save on some of the fees.

Curious to see if I can get it running faster than I can get it registered! I'll keep posting any news. Thanks
