Possibly the last pics....

....before a minor tear-down. It's starting to get a bit chilly to ride, now, so the motor's coming out this winter for a complete overhaul: blasting, bearings, seals, bores, pistons, valves, kickstart, head 'flowing plus side casings & tank paintwork.

I'm just anxious to stop the rattles & drips, but it always puts a smile on my face after a ride!

Hey Steve, is that a wanker strip down the middle of the rear tire? :-) Just messing with you mate! Now hit some corners with that thing before it's bald in the middle!

Awwww, thanks guys! It ain't quite as good as the photos make it look. I mean, the tin & frame are really good now, as are the wheels (the new, built-up rear is still in the garage), but the motor looks like shite, in the flesh. The tank's always looked like crazy paving, but my pals say it lends a degree of patina to the bike(!).

I'm really looking forward to getting the motor out now; it's so good visualising how the end result is going to look (hopefully!). It can be the smallest thing, but I love that feeling of 'I did that' when a plan unfolds.

Arf! S'about right, Dave! I don't trust that tyre to use the shoulders much. It's an inherited Kenda, which I've no knowledge of; although it's never actually broken away nor felt like it might, I have little faith in the road surfaces here. I drive a car and feel how grippy the surfaces just ain't!

Now, once I've picked up a lovely pair of Dunlop Gold Seal K70s that someone's hiding somewhere in a shed. Or, as a second choice (only for the lack of looks), TT100s...... Then I might be more adventurous and a little less of a wan...... You get the picture.

Steve,

Are those rear shocks the ones that are repopped in Thailand (or vietnam) and are available on ebay for about $90.00 a set? If so, how do you like them? Do you think you can fit the stock top covers on them?

Thanks, Phil
