My Cafe Build
Thanks a lot Deez! That helps me tremendously. I am completely new to restoring a bike and don't have any knowledge on the subject at the moment other than what I have picked up here in the past week. I just started a resto post myself. I love your bike and placed a pic of it on my desktop as an "after" picture of what I want to do with my bike. I hope you don't mind if I occasionally pick your brain with a question or two as I go along.
This is what it looked like when I brought it home - probably the best condition of any bike I have ever started out with. Usually I tend to find the tiredest of the bunch! Motor was locked up for sitting in the original owners garage since the 70's.
Mainly just a frame up restoration and upgrading in certain areas such as ignition and electrical. The body work will not be touched and left as is with the exception of cleaning. If I decide to go to another color which I plan to do at some point, I will pick up some used body parts to work with and keep the originals. I have always wanted a Norton but my only complaint is the cost to do a project like this. You can build and blow up allot of Honda motors with what it takes to build and restore one of these right!
