indeed. I'm in bobs shoes, where i have to take a few months off from the bike every now and then to focus on gumption building hobbies, then come back and drain all that gumption into that 305cc of space.

Back on the Road

Post by Bob Dale » Sat Jun 27, 2009 3:51 pm

As the previous poster suggested, sometimes other projects can be a distraction and I have had several but am now back on the road for the summer. Since my last post I have replaced the seat cover, front foot pegs and both tires...again. The tires were replaced last year with Firestone whitewalls from Coker Tire. Shortly after installation, they began to turn yellow. Nothing would clean them. Coker offered to replace them at the time or to allow me to keep using them, hoping that the problem would work itself out. It didn't. It got worse, so just prior to 1 year I sent them back. They took care of me very well, replacing not only the tires and paying shipping in both directions but also paying my bill at Honda for the mounting charges and they sent me a new tube to replace the one that I punctured during removal. No complaints about Coker and I would recommend them for anyone needing tires. They say that Firestone had a bad batch of tires that did not have the proper barrier between white and black rubber, allowing the discoloration to bleed through and that the problem has been resolved. I hope so because changing these tires is not something I want to do again anytime soon. I am having problems posting pictures for some reason but will keep trying.

1yr old Firestone whitewalls

Note the sever yellowing on the exposed whitewall, not on the bead. I dont understand how that could have been due to bleeding through from behind unless exposure to UV might have also been a factor?

Note to Admin: test uploading of photos from Windows 7RC. I got an "empty file" error from my Windows 7 machine but am able to upload the same files from XP?
