Cl77 Crank shaft
Cl77 Crank shaftIn need of a usable crank shaft for a 65-68 CL77
I have managed to get 2 so far neither i can use. one has been modified and won’t accept the correct bearing and the other has a tap snapped off in the internal thread which is proving impossible to get out. iv got my local engineering firm working on though but there taking a while ind i’m looking to get my project rolling again. thanks Mike
CL crankshaftHello Mike
Cant remember if the CL cranks are all 180 degrees but if they are I may be able to help with a CB72 one you could use ( you would need to blank the starter clutch oil feed hole ). You are probably aware, the only way you realy know if they are good is to have them appart and checked though. If you cant get anything local give me a PM and I will see what I have.
The cranks can be dismantled & rebuilt after cleaning and replacing bearings, where necessary.
You could 'fix' the one with the stuck tap just by changing the outer piece. As Gordon says, the CL77 Right hand end does not have the oil hole that the CB77 crank has. This is one I rebuilt. G

Yes, special tooling (and a good press) to dismantle & reassemble. Although just pulling off the outer web is a little easier. When you put it back together with a press you have to get the conrod side clearance right and the runout to within 1 thou. I built this alignment jig to reassemble the centre section. You don't really need special kit to check the final alignment but it helps.... G
