What type of battery?

Post by kenkah » Thu May 03, 2012 7:50 pm

I was wondering what batteries you guys were using out there for the CA77 Dreams. I had bought a Yuasa 12N39A and while it works and fits in the case. It doesnt allow for the support bracket or the side cover to be put back on. So I can get on the bike but its exposed for one and for 2 the bike doesnt look complete. I'm trying to find out if there is a current manufactured battery on the market anywhere. I came across a lithium battery but wasnt sure how that would play on the electrical system. I had found a NOS Wisco JB-2 battery that was the correct fit but I missed out on it on Ebay. I'm hoping that maybe we can compile a list of known and successful fits. I just dont want to have to change the original dynamics on the bike just to make the battery fit.

I have tried for years with two different (expert?) battery suppliers to find an alternative to the JB-2. no luck. I'm thinking the next time I am in need I will look into the Li-ion as they can be quite a bit smaller and still have the juice.

Email the ebay guy and he'll probably sell you a JB-2 or put up an auction for you. TheGreatRandolpho is the guy I bought a couple from that way.

Is the JB-2 the size of an early or late battery?

Did the battery covers change in size to accommodate the different sizes? If so, what year did that happen?

The JB-2 is an early battery. The battery change occured at frame 1010863 to the 12N9-3A battery. The cover changed accordingly at the same time.

i am running this Lithium ion battery in my cb77, its super small, 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches, its cold cranks the starter motor over and over again. great buy.

and it charges up with any trickle charger. or you can buy their expensive one that supposedly makes the battery last a lot longer.
