Winkers not flashing

I have winkers on my Dream. I had the flasher out of the bike and hooked up to a circuit with a power source and an appropriate bulb. The bulb was flashing nicely after some adjustment and careful placement of the flasher internals. It needed around 13 volts to flash. I have two flashers and got both working appropriately outside the bike. When I install the flasher inside the frame with twelve volts to the flasher the lights are constantly on. The same goes for both flashers. Does anyone have some idea of what is wrong? Thanks for help in advance. Jeff Hebert.

Are you using the out side power source or the bikes battery? If you don't have the correct voltage the flasher wanted work.

I was using a battery as my power source and then a running motorcycle with jumper cables to try again. My electrical guy adjusted the screw way down so that they now flash albeit in a sickly slow manner. He said either the coil was very weak or the metal leading to the open/close circuit has become magnetised. I have not disassembled the relay to ascertain whether this is the case.

The relay that I installed is just a standard 12 volt auto flasher (the little round kind) and it works great. Lights seem to flash at just the right speed and it easy to keep a spare one in the tool kit(just in case).
