i installed one that looks exactly like the one pictured in this thread on my 67 CL77 and it fried running with the lights on- it puts 2/3 of the amperage to one input. I know others swear by the Kohler, so maybe mine was defective. I ended up installing the reproduction diode (about $45 I think) with no problems. I've put 700 or so miles on since then, battery stays charged and fluids stay up. IMHO the only reason to buy the regulator is if you're installing electronic ignition, then I'd go with Charlies unit.

Thanks for the input, Stan. We do want to eventually install the Electronic Ignition from Charlie's Place, so we'll likely buy both the Elec Ign and the Reg-Rec from them. Until then, I'll pop the $5 Radio Shack bridge rectifier on there to improve the charging, and save the original.

I'm bummed they're out of the Halogen Headlight conversions; their mfr went out of business. I had wanted to do all three upgrades.
