It starts inside the cover with the alignment of the gear marks and the spring then on outside the lever must be installed/aligned with the punch marks and as you place the cover on the engine you must align the "O" then install the cover.
SIMPLE !
Well when you get it right you will not forget how to do it. ......lmk

Not the place for it - but any quick link on how to align the Kick Starter, i.e the dot's and "o's" on the gears?

Suffering from a limp K/S arm and Viagara ain't helping! :)

Just to make sure -

The spring should look llike an "S" looking at the installation?

The "O"s should be aligned or do I load up tension and align the punches?

I caught your posts on the spring direction.

Also, how coiled should the spring be? I have one that is pretty tight and one that is, well, significantly loose. The loose one cam off my original cover that shattered at the K/S Bushing...

Thanks LM!

LM,

Searching as we are speaking - I think I forgot to turn the transmission gear all the way clockwise before installing the cover....

The part in your last pic appears to an electronic ignition control module. Have you removed the points cover to see what behind it?

Davo,

I will check that out. As I was looking at the wires coming out of the box, I traced them up to the points, but ran out of time.

I am going to pull the harness next weekend and record where these wires are hooked into. I will update as I go.

Thanks for the response!

Gersh
