Noprob. OK, here goes: ign combo sw terminals as follows:

Term BAT, wire red
Term DY, wire pink
Term SE, wire yellow
Term ML, wire brown
Term HL, wire green
Term TL, wire black/yellow
Term ST, wirs black/red
Term IG, 2 wires, black & black/white sleeve

The above is probably superfluous, as I suspect the problem is with the celenium rectifier (LM will hopefully post where that can be found on a C77). Simple process of elimination as follows:

1. dis the battery neg at the chassis bolt
2. remove the heavy starter relay wire (should be black/red sleeve) and the rectifier wire (should be red/white)
3. ign sw OFF (there are two positions where you can remove the key, and I think the fully ACW is OFF, the other is parking light), put the fuse in place and tap the earth cable from the batt neg onto the chassis (away from the battery breather tube please!) or connect the previously-described test lamp
RESULT1? If there's no sparking (or the test-lamp remains off), continue to 4 below. If the result is still a presentation of the original problem then the fault is in the harness onwards, in which case come back to me
4. dis the neg cable or test-lamp, connect the starter cable (Bk/R sleeve) at the pos batt post, then reconnect the neg cable / test-lamp
RESULT2? If there's no sparking (or the test-lamp remains off), continue to 5 below. If the result is still a presentation of the original problem then the fault is in the starter circuit / relay
5. dis the neg cable or test-lamp once more, connect the rectifier cable (R/W) at the pos batt post, then reconnect the neg cable / test-lamp
RESULT3? Sparks / bright test-lamp? Thought so!
Seriously though, it still smacks of a screwed rectifier from here.

Lemme know how you get on when you get home.

Regards,

Steve

Hey John,

If your rectifier tests positive for failure, try one of these in its place:

GOT IT!

Rectifier was bad so I made a new one and the starter and lights all work fine!

Only thing is NOW I don't think I have any spark. I'm going to search the posts and see if I can't find something on that!

Thanks for your help!

John

Steve here is a picture of my bike with the problem and the new and old switches have 5 contacts as opposed to 8 on a model with blinkers and starters.
