Electric Starter Runs All The Time

Post by irvan » Wed Oct 17, 2007 6:06 am

Ok, It now runs. After the test drive I turned it off and the next time I turned the key on it engaged the electric starter. (before that the button hasn't worked and still doesn't.) The bike started but the starter keeps going while it'd running. I was thinking about just disconnecting the wires at the solenoid for now. Wadda ya think? (or better ideas)

When you push the starter button, it makes a gound that completes the starter circut. You may need to take the switch apart, and clean and check that all is O.K. in there. There may be a broken, bent or missing part.

Startor won't shut off either

What is the 'switch' the author is referring to here? Part of push button on handlebar, on the starter and can be accessed without removing starter, or within startor and requires its removal?
Thaks!

he means starter button...here's what you'll see when you get it apart...mine did the same thing, note burn mark where wire was shorting out to the body...
