starter push button missing

Post by Rick S » Mon Sep 15, 2008 9:16 pm

My 66 Hawk is missing the starter button on the handlbar. I was wondering if I could get a button from another honda and put it and the missing contacts into my switch housing? I have access to a 73 CB 350F and the button looks the same. I would hate to have to buy a new assembly if I can find one that would interchange.

Rick, just the plastic button? Or the entire assembly?

Trawl eBay for 'honda cb77' or 'honda cb 77'; buttons & switch tops crop up frequently. All those from our bikes' era are essentially the same, usually "Tec"-manufactured.

You may have luck eBay searching for cb72 also but, since most cycle & cosmetic parts are interchangeable, there seem to be more 77 listings. Also search 'honda c77' or 'ca77' -- the buttons & switch tops are the same as the CB's (but not the whole assemblies!).

G'luck...

Then it has to be CB72/77/160, CP77 (non-winker), CM72, CBM72. NOT C/CA/CS/CSA series.

Can't comment on those out of our bikes' series', so I don't know if the CB350F would be any good, myself.
