Badge Numbers: 305 vs. 300

Post by Michael Stoic » Thu Jan 08, 2004 9:30 am

[forwarded from email]

I have always wondered about the tank badges on the early Honda twins. Some of them say Honda 300. Was there a 300 and a 305? or does the 300 refer to the 305cc the same way 250 refers to the actual displacement of 247cc?
Just Curious,
Jeff
JJGIESE@aol.com

Hi
Speaking of badges,
there's a set of orig plastic 250 Hawk, Dream, and Scrambler badges on ebay.

Does anyone know if these were on '64 and later 250 Dreams also,
or did they have a 'Dream 250' badge only?
Thanks
C

Here's the URL link

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2471381994

I have a 68 305 DREAM. The tank emblems are solid, looks like brass, and are bowed out farther than any other emblem i've seen. They have the honda wings and DREAM written out below the wings. The outer part of the emblem are wreathes of leafs.Did any Of these emblems come out stock. Or are they aftermarket. Are these rare? Or can i get replacements? THANKS

They are Honda but I think they are some sort of special issue that was not put on the C/CA/CB/Cl72/77 bikes sent to the USA. I've never seen them on any OLD PICS of these bikes no matter the country so far. ..............LM

tank badges

all the 250's said "250" while the 305s said "300". The Dream models were for the Dream bikes. The Super Hawks/Cl models just said either 250/300. The copper colored with wreaths were dealer installed and denoted some sort of anniverary model I think. Just a guess here. Charlie

The badges started with Dream 250, Dream 300 and around 1964 were changed to just 250 or 300. I had a 1962 CL72 with Dream 250 and then a 1963 CL72 with the same and I threw them away and installed polished Aluminum plates.
WHY?
I rode a SCRAMBLER not a Dream and I didn't want Draem Badges on my bikes. ..............lm
