As usual, the VJMC will be on the infield over the bridge behind the AMA tent. We welcome all vintage Honda enthusiasts and are having a picnic on Sat at 5-6 PM. Come and join the fun!

I was really hoping that I'd have my 63 CB77 ready to ride by then, but I haven't touched it really since March. Once the weeds started growing in the yard, I haven't had much time for the bike. But alas, I have just started picking up where I left off in the interest department.

So... I would love to go to Mid-Ohio. I've never been, but I would be interested to see if I can get some of the parts I would like for my bike at the swap meet. Tops on the list for used parts are a swingarm and a seat with a good pan. I'd also be interested in a front fork or two.

For those of you who have been to this event before, what are your recommendations?

Bring a hat, good walking shoes, and maybe some rubber boots in case it rains (can get very muddy in the swap meet field), and maybe even an umbrella....okay, am I sounding too much like your mother?

The first year I went, I drove my very exciting Jetta out from Baltimore. It was fine, but I didn't really feel part of the 'buzz', as I didn't have my bike with me and couldn't participate in any of the rides, bike-related events, etc. Last year I rode the SuperHawk out, and although I was limited in terms of what I could buy parts-wise (or even t-shirts wise, for that matter), I felt much more like a participant in the event, as opposed to an innocent bystander with a car. So that choice is up to you, depending upon what you're looking to get out of the event. I suppose if you had the luxury of being able to drive out and trailer a bike along, that would be the best of both worlds, but presently I don't have that option. As well, I wasn't exactly tripping over mounds of SuperHawk parts, so it was probably just as well (mind you, I wasn't really looking for major pieces either, so that might have just been my perception).

If walking and standing for long periods of time are not your cup of tea, you may want to consider renting a golf cart, which they have available on site. It is quite an overwhelming event indeed, and I think one could take full advantage of the three days and not feel like they have spent too much time there. However, if you're planning on staying for the entire event, I hope you have your accommodations worked out, as motels, hotels, b&b's book out several months in advance in the area.

Thanks Vince. I might make a day trip out of it from here in Indy. I don't have any way to trailer the bike and considering the cases are split in my basement and the rest of the Superhawk is in the garage, I won't be riding it to the event. I'll just have to take the good ol' Subaru. :)
