Save Honda305.com !
Waiting....I'm not good at it.Emailed the hosting firm asking when the great purge would be. He said they would only be communicating with the client going forward. Thanks again.
Re: Save Honda305.com !Yeah, maybe next week the spammers will get purged.
Re: Save Honda305.com !First, thanks for doing this. I'm impressed that you were able to reuse the old database so our old conversations live on and I'm sure cleaning out the spam will free up some disk space. Second, perhaps one task that should happen is the appointing of some moderators with the ability to take down spam when it happens. I know that the new software is better able to prevent spam but they are such a creative bunch. :-( It would also ensure that we don't end up in quite as bad a situation in the future. Finally, who's paying for this? Who was paying for this? I'm happy to send a contribution.
Re: Save Honda305.com !All I did was hunt down the hosting Co. And alert them to the fact that the owner / moderator was AWOL.
They got in touch with him. So I guess he is still willing to fund this, as they seem to have begun the revamp. I would have expected some sort of announcement to the members by now, but hey, whatever. I'm just glad all this archival knowledge isn't going to go away, and the site will continue. Once the spammers are banned, I expect people will return and JOIN. I know I was reluctant to join because of the spammers. Best,
Re: Save Honda305.com !Looks like the start of a (hopefully) great result - thanks to all those that assisted. We just need to get rid of those spammers and hopefully their posts.
Thanks.
Regards Muddy '64 C72 '63 C72 Re: Save Honda305.com !Hi Everyone,
I was early to the party (back a decade+ ago), and now I've returned somewhat late to the party. Basically, I owned a CB77 that I bought on this forum, and now I own one again. I see that the forum has changed slightly and I've looked through this thread to see what has happened (seems very recent). I'm happy to help in whatever way there is available. I think the resource is invaluable for those of us who are interested in the collective knowledge of a forum. Is there any hope that the searching of old threads will be possible again? Cheers, Dan Blair (now dblair, formerly oscillon on this forum)
