I think that your complete bike would be a fine example of the genre..... :-)

Yes I think it could be part of the period entitled 'The Age of Excess' :)

Looking at those 'bacon slicers' i wonder how much power it takes to turn them? With those little scoops they are actually acting as a wheel driven fan. I bet it takes a couple of HP to drive them at 70+ mph.

I think mine are just flat without the scoops.

The bike is just about done and I should have it back next week. John tells me that with the new oil pump/filter setup, I will definitely NOT have any problems with oil starvation at the top end. The oil is abundant up top, and the bike now can handle almost 3 qts of oil.

I'll be interested to see how the 'new' wheels look with the rest of the bike - John said they really 'pop', so of course I'll be posting some photos of it. Stay tuned!

Where does the extra oil capacity come from?

I think it comes from the additional capacity that the pump can handle (and to avoid the possibility of it just pumping air). Franco recommends filling the oil to (I think) 1/2" above the line on the dipstick. I can confirm that mark - will have to look through my notes.

Sorry, it's 3/16" above the mark to avoid what he calls 'pump cavitation'.
