The cut out at the back of the slide may have a slightly different profile (changing the mixture) and they may also have dropped a touch as they settle on to the stop screws. A small tweak to the throttle stops should sort that out. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

Went for about a 110 mile ride today through the backroads of Baltimore County -- man this bike wanted to rev to the 9's all day and go go go!
Bike ran great, and as far as the idle goes, all I did was turn the idle screws in about 1/8th of a turn in, and it seems better. I'll leave them there for now, and see how it goes as the weather starts to warm up. There's also a possibility of advancing the timing slightly to see what effect that might have on the idle, but we'll wait for the warmer weather before we start experimentations like that. I'm still getting used to this 5-speed gearbox, believe it or not. It's quite easy to lose track of what gear you're in -- this morning while I was riding at about 40 mph I thought I was in 3rd gear....turns out, I was in 2nd!
Went for a glorious 140 mile ride today -- perfect 68-70 degree weather, sunny, no wind, but of course more traffic than I'd like....
I was having some charging system issues, and I had to bring it back to John for a look-see. Turned out my rotor would lose some magnetism as it got hot, and would only be charging at about 12.7 volts with the lights on at 4000 rpm (don't forget, I just had the Rick's Electric stator and regulator kit installed). John tested both the stator, regulator and battery, so the only thing left was the rotor. I had purchased an NOS rotor from Terry at Western Hills a few months back, but didn't use it at the time. So we installed it this time around and bingo -- when hot (after that 140 mile ride), and at 4000 rpms with the lights on, 13.25 volts and climbing; lights off it's just over 14 volts and climbing. At rest the battery reads about 13 volts. At idle it's about 12.6 volts with the light on, and 12.8 in change with the light off. So hopefully that solved that. And I think I finally got my idle sorted out -- it too had been erratic and hard to nail down, but with a bit of adjustment from John, and a minor tweaking of the idle screws by me while on the road, I think I now have it settled into a rock-solid 1300 rpm idle. So all in all, a good day! Spring Hawk2013 by Vince.Lupo, on Flickr

Good to hear that your're getting it to your liking. I love the idyllic setting for the picture. SuperHawk meets Hansel and Gretel.... Spring weather here still needs a bit of fine tuning - it has stalled out a few times... G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

That's actually our backyard! Never thought of it as being Hansel and Gretel, but now that you mention it.....
Yes I'm finally glad that things seem to be ironed out. The ride and the voltage reading yesterday put my mind at ease, and now I'm itching to do a road trip! I'll likely not be doing Mid-Ohio this year, but even a long weekend exploring the Pennsylvania backroads would be good enough for me. I've also been wanting to re-visit Roanoke and Staunton, Virginia -- maybe I can convince a couple of my riding friends to come along....we'll see! Vince
No intention to make fun of your backyard - it looks beautiful. Roanoke Virginia that would be a great ride. You can visit Walton's Mountain. We did that a couple of years back on a drive down from New York. One day I'll rent a bike of one of my US trips... G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
