Hoosier Tom wrote:The only piping on my seat is in 2 places, one piece where the backrest piece of suede meets the flat "sit your butt down" piece of suede and the other is on the radius of the backrest piece of suede. I also have the 2 sets of tabs like on 56oval's. I believe mine to be an early to mid 60's issue because there is no part number or model number stamped in white paint on the bottom of my pan.
Thatsexactly how mine is/was. But I don't think the one on eBay had any piping. I'll have to look again.

CYB race seat

Post by GORDON BROWN » Thu Feb 24, 2011 9:13 am

Hello everyone

It would seem that all these CYB race seats are diffrent, my one only has the piping round the rear section and nothing like Hoosier Tom's one. I think I have now seen at least five original seats with slightly diffrent covers and as we are finding out diffrent base fittings, obviously these seats were made in reasonable numbers and sold in various countries but I supect by Honda standards they are very low volume and almost what we would call hand made. Ie. whatever is to hand we make them from and whoever is to hand makes them!
Perhaps not? but you never know.

That would be great Joe. Thanks.

How'd the molds come out?

I won't have a chance to see until this weekend. I just spoke with my fiberglass guy this morning. He mentioned he was still waiting on some materials to finish that are due today.

Just as an update for those that are on the list, the mold is still being worked on and is almost done. There was some more filling and reinforcement needed to make sure the mold can handle all of the pulls without running into distortion or dimension issues. It also has to be cleaned up from the stock seat to get rid of any rust pit marks, prong holes, etc so the blanks are nice and smooth.

I was hoping to have at least on blank by today but I'd rather my fiberglass guy take his time and avoid any mistakes from rushing the job. Anyway, I hope to have some more info mid week.

Ok, latest update is that we should be good to roll by this Thursday. I'm planning on meeting up with the mold guy on Friday to check everything off and place the order for the blanks. If anybody else is interested in a seat, please get in touch with me before Friday as I'm only making enough for those that are pre-ordered.

-Joe
