I've done the 520 conversion on a couple of my bikes, and have been pleased with it! Less weight, less friction, and much easier to find a chain as all modern dirt bikes, and many street bikes are using the 520. A good hardened gold chain is the way to go IMHO

And how else am I gonna hit 130mph?!
;)

You DO put a smile on my face Vince. 130MPH from a 350cc 2 valve 4stroke twin is not that simple, especially on a road bike. 30KG off the weight, streamlining and higher RPM horsepowerall help towards your aim. The other way is supercharging. All the best Jerry

Okay okay -- 125mph then! And I'll lose 5kg myself!

Final road testing should hopefully be this Friday. Sprocket Specialists informed me that the sprockets will be here Thursday, I picked up my Tsubaki 520 chain, and the rest of the Amal jets will be here Thursday as well (I have 260's and 280's, and am just waiting on 270's and 300's). Also have a fresh box of NGK D8HA's, so hopefully this should do it.

John's plan on Friday is to put the 32 tooth sprocket on there first, as well as the 300 mains immediately. Hopefully the bike will fall flat on its face at WOT with the 300's, so then we'll know that we're in the hunt. As well, he wants to put the bigger rear sprocket on first, so it will be easier for him to remove links if needed, rather than the other way round.

Many thanks to Jerry for the enjoyable phone conversation -- I appreciate the encouragement and support!!!

Vince,
In '64 at Suzuka in Japan I was clocked at 133 at the start finish line. My bike is a Yoshimura CP77 with fairing, weighing about 325# and me about 155#. At that time you have to remember there was no chicane and it was all downhill from the last corner at the top with a full on right turn at the bottom and than pass the line going into turn one. As well as I remember, I think it was about a 600' drop. I was never clocked on a level run but feel the bike without fairing would probably run 115+. With the 350 kit and all else you have done, if you get the weigh down IMHO 120+ should be possible. Good luck, Cliff

Thanks Cliff -- I weigh in at about 148-150lbs, and really if I hit 110 that'll be plenty for me. At a certain point safety comes into play, and if the bike honestly had the ability to hit 130, I really don't think I'd want to ride it at that speed. Truly what I'm after is to have the bike run the best it can possibly run, be reliable, and have some longevity to it.

My one concern about the parts I've ordered is that front sprocket from Sprocket Specialists -- Honda had two different inner measurements (25.5mm for the 'early', and 28mm for the 'late'), so I'm hoping the way that Sprocket Specialists measured is the way that Honda did! Otherwise, we'll have to do something with the existing 15 tooth 530 sprocket that we already have.
