Nova Tranny

Wow, that was very interesting Vince. I now have a much better understanding of how these trannys work. It doesn't look too difficult to install either. Thank-you.....................................D

Thanks Vince. Like D said, it doesn't look difficult at all. Might as well be a drop in application as the modifications are simple.

any update on this Vince? Can't wait to get some more reviews on the 350 kit.

Thanks for the bump -- well let's see...

The case mods for the 5 speed are done, and the only thing I'm waiting on right now is the head (I'm hoping for that to be done next week). I had to order a bunch of seals for John, and he wanted me to find a cam chain tensioner and cam chain guide roller, and they took a bit of time. The guide roller should be here next week.

John looked at the 350 kit when it came back, and he was very impressed with the work -- nice cross hatching, very clean etc. I think that 358cc is pretty well as big as you could go with this engine.

Of course, it's still 30 degrees here and there's snow on the ground (though the roads are clear and dry), so I'm not really anxious to jump on a bike at the moment anyway. I just did a 1200 mile round trip to Toronto, Ontario, Canada and back in my '63 Ford Falcon, so I'm still recovering from that. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment!

One more piece back!

So, this is what Mr. Ladd did: open intake and exhaust ports, valve job and vacuum test, final clean and assemble with the new valve springs and retainers. He said that there was nothing surprising, and no problems whatsoever.

Springs 1.410 = 100 lbs @ .400 Lift = 250 lbs.

Hopefully it won't explode!
