It looks like a lot of thought and work has gone into building that bike. It will be interesting to find if that translated into results. Althought the tires must be pretty old and probably unsafe to use, don't throw them away. They would look good on a period race-bike exhibit.

If you are going to strip the engine I would be really interested to see what's inside.

Good luck with the project.

No I cant see any oil lines to be fair.

A couple more pics with out the fairing on.
Started the strip down. Has anyone come across the electronic ignition I have here before?

Could do with knowing a little about it and some info in the set up before I go to far.

There is no generator that I can make out, so would this be a total loss system? I am not that clever with the electrical side of things!!

Thanks Dave.

Hi Jerry

G asked if there was any external oil lines fitted. I presume it is something that is done to get the oil back to the sump quicker??

I have a Ducati single and you do see that kind of a make up on them when they are used for racing. Doing away with the necessity for the oil to drain back down the bevel tube, which you may already know?

Cheers Dave

Hi Jerry

This bike has 500 (yellow) racing plates and I knew that a few of the Dutch-built 500 conversions had external oil lines to the head. Just trying to find out what size the motor was. :-)

Dave

Is there a electronic box that goes with the ignition? Under the tank, maybe? There might be some clues there.

Hi G

Yes there is. I didn't take a pic of that. It is a piranha ignition EF3U 3L0372. I will take a pic and post it.

Cheers

Regarding external oil lines on a CB72/77 when it is out to 500 is beyond my understanding. Oil supply to cylinder head, camshafts etc is I imagine not engine capacity dependent and opening the 2 oil return holes in the head by 2mm increases return flow capacity by some 50%. All the best Jerry
