All comments are good comments, even if just to get the discussion moving!

Exactly what class would you race a "500cc Superhawk" that would make it advantagious over building somthing like a Drixton or TAB 500? Is it some kinda silohette class?

It would be for our (Australia) Classic Class - known as period 3, 1946 to 62. The major components must have been made during this time, or be parts manufactured later, but that existed during this period (and that are identical in appearance). Hence needing to use a cb77 or 72 to get a fast 500 honda twin happening!

Jerry K. in AU. has a 350 and a 500 class bike made at the start from the CB72/77 engine parts. The driver ( a beautiful and talented female) is champion of several classes with the AU. GP CKT for 2008. Both are for sure talented and good people to know. Ask me how I know!! ...................lm

Theres the inspiration! I have seen this bike raced on a number of occasions last year, it is brutally fast. I am not planning on going down the same extreme route, but figure a 500 project would be great fun.

I kinda figured thats what you were shootin for when I noticed the AUS in your screen name. LoL Since the cutoff date is '62 you could get away with using a modified 450 head that would mimic the CR72/77 ,no?
I have seen pictures of Mandy Beales('08 Jnr.champ) racing the 350 & 500cc and have often wondered what the inside of the 500cc engine must look like. That has got to be one helluva labor intensive set of pieces. Also curious about the frame as it looks like a CR wonder if it is real or a repro?

L.M. you got anymore insight/info into this?
