Did the previous owner have the bike registered? (the guy you bought it from) That would prove his ownership and then the bill of sale would most likely suffice.

Your DMV should have a way to get a provisional title. You are not the first one to face this issue. There is a process. Ask the DMV lady to tell you what options are available to you.

Just beware that somewhere in the process they will do a 50 state search to make sure it is not stolen. If it was reported stolen somewhere along the line, they will come take the bike. And, you will have been in possession of stolen property. It is always best to start out with asking your DMV to do a 50 state search BEFORE you by a bike without a clean title.

WOW! $500.00? That is absurd.

Try calling your legislators and gripe to them. You never know. Odds are they will listen and sympathize and not do a darn thing. But, you never know. Maybe you will have at least one person who really takes their job seriously and will weigh in to get you some help.

You might check back with the DMV lady to see if they have some kind of alternative for a classic vehicle.

Man that is a tough spot. Sorry to hear it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles man, Here in S.c. I found out the hard way. No title no ride....no matter what you do. I even went to my state Rep. and no go. I don't trust those title Comp. either. Wish you luck there man.
In God we trust!.....Nothing like some breeze on the knees!
