how to take apart mirror to get post rechromed?

Post by linemup » Mon Mar 18, 2013 9:17 am

I have the round type mirror on my 61 dream......does not have threaded end.........just a smiple smooth post. On the backside of mirror.....there is one screw(for adjustment) and two rivots.................how does this come apart? Do i have to break glass or drill rivots? it is sort of like this picture but mine only has one screw as stated. I just want the post rechromed. Thanks

Ok...why would you want to rechrome that thing. It is not an original honda part... it is an aftermarket & there are at least 5 billion of those floating around. You can find those brand new for waaaaay cheaper than what it's gonna cost to replate it.

No need in being smart...............im here to learn..............its an original bike and owner said nothings ever been replaced on it........been sitting and is tagged 1970. Just going by what i was told..............there is no other place for mirrors to mount. Ive also had others with early dreams say their mirrors are similar. Like i said............im here to learn but im no child so please dont speak to me as such. Thanks for your input.
