Low mileage, Original Dream?

Post by G-Man » Sat Apr 23, 2011 12:17 am

This guy may be telling the truth but it looks to me like Uncle did quite a bit of work back in the day. For a low-miles bike it does have a lot of alterations. The mufflers look like they're off something else, tyres are replacements and the color - surely repainted, or is it an orginal candy color?

I saw that earlier and I had my doubts also. I've never seen one that color blue before but I'm hardly the expert.

Something fishy here, ..........nice but not all original.
"580 miles"????
"This is not a restored bike just cleaned up."??????
Why all the allen heads?
Why the boogered up clutch adjuster?
Why replace some of the cables?
"some touch up paint"??????....weren't the vin numbers originally stamped after the paint?

I met this guy a couple years ago. He's a friend of my brother that lives in Susanville. He told me that his uncle had crashed itwhen it was new, and there were almost no miles on the bike. I don't remember all of the details, but I have a call in to my brother, and I'll get the scoop on it when I talk to him.

The clutch and brake brackets that hold the mirrors are from a later model. It definitely looks like a restored bike to me. This is my original 62 Dream http://s1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee431/clkashe/[/url]

Hi,

Why replace the screws of the dynamo cover and clutch cover at 580 miles ??, only to polish it ?

Look at the detail I acquired from the original picture, now, why would someone do that after 580 miles ? I checked my 8-hole 1961 cylinders, and I have no reason to believe that it is original.

In the oil gallery aren't supposed to be bolts, accept when it is build for an oil cooler (could anyone think of another reason ??)

And why would someone build an oil cooler on a dream ?, at the mileage of 580 miles ?, and then remove it again ?
