Top Speed?

I finally have my Dream out and running. No major issues.

It only seems to top out around 70 on a flat. Is this typical or can I push a little more performance out of it. It has 4500+ miles on it and is running smoothly. The points were changed, it was tuned, has new plugs and the carb was just cleaned.

I took it from Englewood, NJ all the way to Harrisburg, PA and back backroading it all the way. It was an awesome ride.

I'm kinda disappointed - all the lit from that era talks about a 90 mph top speed.

i'd imagine it could get a bit higher, but i wouldn't reckon it could go as fast as the superhawk, they look a bit heavier and those fenders can't be considered too aerodynamic :p

you're also sitting up as opposed to forward (unless you put flat bars on it).

After speaking with some experts and my mechanic, my Dream is running pretty close to the way it should. I guess I should invest in the best performance upgrade out there for riding on small CC bikes - lose some friggin' weight!!

My '63 Dream CA77 305 tops out at about 80-85 on flat runs and I think I can get some more out of it with a little work as my transmission is slipping.

So how does a dream handle above 60? I've never gone that fast on mine. How does the rubber band suspension hold up?
