Slow down

Post by Dgormley » Tue Dec 07, 2010 2:47 pm

Sasha, tisn't quite that easy. Look at the picture below and you will see how it goes together. You have to pull the side-cover off. The bolt threads into part #6, which holds part #5 in position after adjustment..................D I hope the image is legible:)

Yes, removing the cover is a necessity. No way to go around that.

Crap.... I thought I was going to be able to get away scott free on this one...
Okay, I will try to remove the cover tonight and see if I still have part 6 (i would imagine its probably sitting in the engine casing given the bolt was taken out entirely... Make sense that it would still be in there sitting free?

You guys wont believe this....

so when I saw the piece in the diagram i got an earth magnet and connected it with electrical tape to the end of a piece of coat hanger. I managed to fish the part out when the earth magnet caught it. Took 15 minutes but im thinking I am going to sodder the piece onto the coat hanger, put it back in, line it up and bolt it down... Thoughts!?

Any pointers here?

I would do it the easy way (take the casing off) but I seriouslly cant, 2 of the screws are REALLY stripped and I cant get any bike on them.

Save your self a lot of grief and drill the heads off of the 2 stripped screws, remove the cover and do it the right way. You'll have to remove those screws sooner or later.

But what do I do once I drill the heads off those screws? How can I get them out of the holes if the bolts are in them still?

The remainder of the screws will be sticking out more than an eigth of an inch and you can unscrew them easily with a pair of pliers, sometimes you can unscrew them with your fingers.
Be careful just to drill the screw heads off though.
