Adding winkers to a bike that never had them?
Off-road handle bar switch is an optionI also plan to add blinkers. I am using a generic off-road handle bar switch (K&S Tec. #12-0055CN). It has lights blinkers and horn switches in one assembly. Blinker relay is also generic, off the shelf from a auto parts store. Lights will be whatever I have laying around. Bike is to far gone to do a back to original restoration, it will be sort of a cafe rat bike.
Tinman, your bike looks great. We already have a full kit (4 winkers, relay, handlebar switch, wire) but the problem I'm having is the same as yours: where to mount the fronts! BTW, I'm going to look into mounting my rears where you have yours. Very clean.
For the fronts, we are actually thinking of drilling holes on the left and right side of the headlight bucket at the point where the tangent of the curve is vertical, about half way between the ignition and the front of the bucket. Also, where did you get your solo seat? Mine: '74 CB750 K4 -- Hers: '64 CA78

Bob, thanks. The turn signals work nicely and are in an area where they're out of the way and somewhat look like they belong mounted there. For a ground, I cleaned off an area on the inside of the rear fender and used one of the screws from the fender bracket for attachment.
I still haven't decided what I'm going to do about the front turn signals. I don't relish the idea of drilling into the headlite bucket as I want to minimize the mods I do and if I ever have to reverse a mod, the holes would be difficult to conceal. Below is a link of one of the ideas I had and that was to add a clamp to the handlebar that would mount the signals. I could either drill a hole into the handlebar and run the wiring on the inside of the handlebar to the headlite bucket, or run the wiring on the outside and access the headlite bucket through the small hole where the clutch and brake cables run through and just zip tie the wire to the handlebar. Which is what I probably would do as it is a short run and it keeps with my ideas on reversing any mods I may make. The upside to the bar mount is that they sit out a little further and in my opinion are a little easier to see as you approach from the oppisite direction. The solo seat is a Le Pera spring mounted seat that measures 15" (L) x 13" (W), it's very comfortable. You'll have to fabricate brackets to mount the front and rear mounts. The nose bracket provided will not work and no rear bracket was provided. I also used 3" springs in the rear. I tried 2" springs but the seat hit the frame. The links I provided are where I bought the seat, but you can probably order the seat from any Harley shop. The springs and pillion seats also were not included even though the picture shows them. If I can help you out, let me know. Good luck. Tinman http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ33100 http://www.jpcycles.com/product/800-449 Hey Tinman. It's been a while, but I've finally begun reassembling our '64 Dream. Here's a pic of the rear turn signals installed. I think they look the part! But wiring is going to be a little challenging, since the kit didn't come with any instructions. The switch has four unlabeled wires of different colors, and each winker bullet has a single wire. The rear wires are red and the front amber lamp wires are orange. Do I imagine correctly that the mount to the frame serves as ground? The included flasher unit has two posts labeled "L" and "B." I still need to determine where to mount the flasher (in the HL bucket or in the electrics bay) so that I can determine where to run all the wire I still need to buy. We decided, after all, to mount the front signals to the bars with those Kuryakin p-clamps. Like you say, it'll be easy to revert to stock if ever required and never really wanted to drill any holes. Any advice on wiring that hasn't already been mentioned?

Bob, your project looks great! Your right, the lights looks the part. Sorry I haven't posted sooner, but I've been out of town.
Its been awhile, but IIRC, one wire goes directly to the r/signal, another to the l/signal, one to the relay and the other to a power source. If you haven't done so already, pull out the schematic and trace the wires, its not all that bad of a project. The signals I used were of the 3 wire type with a double filament bulb. One was for the signal, the other wire was for the running light when the headlights are used and the other was a ground wire. I attached the ground to the inside of the fender where the bolts come through for the fender bracket. I had to sand the paint down to bare metal to get a good ground but when I had it all together I shot it with some rattle can paint to cover things up. The relay I mounted in the frame behind the access panel to the air filter and ran power off of the brake light switch to the relay. I like those bullet lights you got there, they look correct for the bike. It'll look nice when its all done.
