However, you must ensure that the slide can move freely inside the carb. If the carb has been over-tightened it can warp, causing the slide to bind, usually at the top of its travel.
Slide binding can also be caused by build-up of gunk (for want of a better word) on the surface of the slide and interior of the slide bore.
I have cleaned the slot in the handlebars...I have a brand new slider and throttle tube...
I have tried silicone grease....cleaned that off...graphite spray....cleaned that off...regular grease...
All with absolutely no change in operation between the old slide and the new slide...new throttle tube...old throttle tube...
As stated...it sounds like it's just a property of these bikes...
I'm thinking about changing to a Hawk (CB77) throttle (as per DianneB) and some low rise bars ala:
I need to find a single pull throttle cable that'll thread into the Hawk housing...and I'll be on my way..
