I've put over 2000 miles on mine and they handle okay except under certain road conditions. They dance around on grooved roads, are not at all good for gravel and downright scary on bridges with a metal grate road bed. I've never ridden on them in the rain or wet conditions, and don't plan to. I've got my CL77 to ride if the weather is iffy.

That being said, when I replace them, I think I'll go for something with a reasonable tread pattern on the rear at least, even though they won't be white walls.

Heidenau K-36 black wall or Coker-Firestone ?

65 305 Survivor Dream Blaine - Santa Cruz CA

I ride in the Santa Cruz Mountains with the Dream and the current tires (Coker Firestone) are indeed scary to ride. Mine are about 5 years old and they have less than a 1,000 mi. full tread but the sidewall near but not exactly at the white wall is showing some separation. you can get your fingernail in the crack / groove / separation? but you cannot see cord so I think it is cosmetic.

I have a set of Heidenau tires on my 69 350 scrambler and they are excellent, in every way the exact opposite of the Coker Firestones on the Dream.

I know I may be opening the gate; but " how wrong would the black wall look"?

The K-36 has an excellent vintage cruiser tread pattern; I'm almost ready to draw on white walls.

I actually like the look of the blackwalls better. To me, the whitewalls seem to draw attention away from the unique features of the CA. There's a few more good choices in blackwalls too. Pictured is a "Goodyear Ribbed Black" on the front and a "Firestone Motorcycle Rear" well, on the rear. Got these from Coker in spring of 2013, but I think they're discontinued now. They might still have stock though, worth a call if you want a set. At that time, $145.99 to my door including tubes and rim strips. I have also had the Firestone zig-zags on another Dream and I can say for sure that these (like any other tire probably) have a much more confident feel.

What is the equivalent U.S. size for 325-16 and use the same size for front and rear?

325-16 would be a US size. 3.25 inches in width and in height. The Dream used the same size front and rear. 3.50-16 tires also fit. If you are looking for metric size tires 80/100-16 or 90/100-16 would work but I don't think that any tires are made in that size. I know others have used some tires in a metric size but not sure which sizes.

I just replaced my Coker Firestones with Shinko blackwalls. Had just over 3000 miles on the Cokers, the rear was badly cracked on either side of the center rib and the front was just starting to crack in the same area. I haven't put many miles on the Shinko's yet,, but my first impressions are that it's improved. I actually like the look of the backwalls better.

I couldnt agree more. not having much to compare to, they seem fine in normal riding conditions and ill definitly buy another set of WWs when these wear out. probably have around 2k on them.
