and... if you can keep the front forks supported and just remove the top nut and race then the top ball bearings will be just sitting there. Count them, get them out, etc.. then drop the front forks down (or jack up the frame..) just a little and spray some thick lube up in the bottom race and gum those balls up before you drop the forks down all the way and give those balls freedom. They won't bounce and roll quite as much if they're all gunked up with lube.
Please post back and let us know if you have 18 on top and 19 on bottom as well. The parts manual says 38 total. hmm.
neck bearings ????
I put 18 on the top and 18 on the bottom. Then everything went back together. I didn't worry too much because I figure my handlebars aren't going to be spinning in the races at 10k rpm ;)
Then today, I found another one playing hide-and-seek under my welder cart. Now I have a spare ... d'oh! (good enough for who it's for) Dana
1966/7 CB-77 Red of course 1976 CB-550F (project over-budget and under-funded) 1985 GS-450S (Land Speed Racer)
Well I guess I can't count I have my bike apart to paint and just put the stem back in with new bearings and it is 18 top and 18 bottom.
