Seat trims - help needed

Thanks for the welcome back, steve - I've been building my new workshop & bikes have been off the agenda for the last 9 months or so.

I'm really against the plastic - I think I'd rather go without any trim at all. And, I'd happily buy a whole seat (despite the shipping cost to Australia) to get the trim, but they havn't been coming up on ebay lately.

Has anyone tried the seat covers from Cool Retro Bikes? I emailed them regarding their trim, but they just replied with "look at the website". The website tells me nothing about the trim, just how good it looks....... I'd cop $275 for a seat cover kit if it's a good kit with correct trim, but not for stick-on plastic...... I've bought stuff from TC before, but not for awhile, so I'll have a look.......

Rob, if I'm not mistaken Cool Retro Bikes has a longstanding record of poor customer service and impossibly slow order fulfillment. Proceed with extreme caution- have a look at their eBay ratings.

i have one too but prob need to keep it. There are alot of $200-500 dreams out there tho that might be good parts bike. keep the trim and sell the other stuff. just an ideal. I used the Auto Zone trim on my 69 dream and you really cant tell its not original till you start looking really close. Then again its not 100% original. close but not quite.

mine looks good with that advance auto trim. i compared it to the trim on the ca95 benly and i can say it looks very close. beats not having no trim. when i show my bike nobody is looking at the trim. they are looking at the overall bike

yeah i agree, thanks for that idea u gave me a while ago, busaken. I went for it and as you can see it looks pretty nice.

I'm just kept the original trim stashed away for when/if i sell it.

it comes with good sticky tape and is very flexible, goes around the back nicely and you just do an angled snip at the front of the seat on each side.

Not in Australia there's not! People want silly money for wrecks here..... Yet restored bikes aren't worth that much......

I'm less concerned about the way it looks & more concerned with how durable it would be - I just can't see it lasting long with my legs rubbing on it on every ride.......
