Hi,

Yes, A stands for America, and are the tubular steerings, mounted on the CA's before 1963, the same as the tubular steerings mounted on C's after 1963 ?

According to honda part manuals, the model code for the early CA's is 257, the model code for the later CA model it is 272.

The later C72 / C77 steering has model code 271.

The pictures in the parts books are hard to compare, so were these tubular steerings shaped different ?

I am not sure if the later handle is the same as the earlier. But all CA models have had tubular handle all the time.

Also, there is country spesific codes for some parts, not sure if this is an issue on these bikes, but sure for other models.

No, it is not easy to be sure whats 100% right. I have studyid my CB92 for 4 years, and discover new things all the time.

This is what's great with place like this, there is always someone who know somethings.

I still miss the square rear winker on my CB77, and a 61 CB72 engine case. WANTED!

Hi Jan,

I can ask around a bit for you.
Does a C72 set of cases from '61 cover your needs too ?

If I dont get a set of CB cases, it would maybe be ok. Are they equal to CB cases? If you find a set of cases /complete engine or partial engine it would make me very happy :)

The only thing I have for an 61 CB72 engine is the 5-speed gearbox

Hi Jan,

Missing a B is at least one difference.
But according to my knowledge no differences in mechanical layout.

Hello j.
Any idea where all these fit in?
From what I see we received models other than the C"A" issues.
Did HONDA ship any "A" issues to other countries other than US?
Note the number of Product codes.
My book doesn't show codes 271/272. .??

FROM THE "GENERAL INFORMATION" SHEET OF THE HONDA ID GUIDE.
The Motorcycle, ATV's, FL models and Motor Scooters shown in this publication represent all known production models and model variations distributed by American Honda Motor Co. Inc., since it inception on June 4, 1959.
A small bit of info also:
Note: Rear view mirrors are standard equipment on all street legal models.

Hi Ed,

Oeff, this goes the wrong way.

I wrote :

but what I wanted to say :

According to Honda part manuals, the model code of the tubular steering part for the early CA's is 257, the model code for the later tubular steering part for the CA model it is 272.

I'll recheck my manuals on other parts for the tubular steering,
