These turn signal lights and brake light were just in the box of extra parts... Don't think they came on my 1963 Dream.. I have all kinds of extra frame parts.. Nothing I need.

Thanks for the info I'll just put then away in a box. My present Dream project has just about all its parts now except a speedometer. The one it came with is completely shot, a rusted faded piece of junk.

Finding a speedometer seems just about impossible.

Have seen a lot of discussion on this, with the question whether signal were stock item or not.
I purchased a Honda Cub new in 1962 with the stamped handlebars. It had cover plates where the signals should have been, front and rear. In 1964 I purchased a new Dream 250, it had tubular bars (no signals) and cover plates on the rear mounts.
Anyway, I tried to purchase the signal as accessories from the local Honda shop and was informed, which I later confirmed with the local law enforcement) the the signals at that time would not be legal because they did not meet the requirement of being 15 inchs apart (the rear lens'). Honda built and shipped most bikes everywhere in the world with the signals installed but rather than redesign for the US they just removed them from the US models because at that time they were not a legal requirement. (Anyone remember hand signals)
If you check history. most all brands of small bikes of that era did not have signals either. To keep up with competition for sales they and many other started with the signals mounted on stalks to expand the distance between lens.
No, I don't know if this is still on the law books. Wouldn't think so because I have seen sport bikes with signals in the tail light housing.

Interesting thoughts. It seems strange that Honda would take the trouble produce "CA" models specially for the US and then not come up with a design to keep the direction indicators when they already had country-specific designs for Europe that had the rear winkers on stalks.

This is the German version of the C72......

I have a pressed steel handlebar with the German style indicators and sold some of those rear stalks to an American friend last year.

Don't know any other information, you would have to have the conversation between the US Gov. and Honda to know the answer. Other countries may not have had the width requirement, or they had a legal requirement that signals be part of the bike, so Honda made signals to fit different country requirements, none-US., original design-some countries or wider stalk mounted-other countries.
Curious question, the handle bar you show looks like it could even be a modification from original Honda design where the front lens' were mounted right on the handlebar.
Just know that the width requirement was in effect for all vehicles because it was even applied to trucks with inboard taillights and signals such as logging trucks where signals could not be mounted outboard.

Those front indicaters were, I think because the German market demanded round lenses ad probably had a height above the ground requirement.

The indicators for all pressed bar bikes were attached to the lever perches so just a matter of changing those out.

Here is my '62 C72 with the 'normal' indicators.....
