It Lives!

Post by irvan » Tue Oct 16, 2007 6:48 pm

I was able to get the black Dream going today, a friend of mine helped me with the carb and it runs! I was able to ride it around the block, then came back to adjust a couple of things. The electric starter now engages when you turn the key on and keeps going after the bike starts. That seems like it should be a simple fix but I'm not sure where to start. The starter button doesn't work (feels like nothing there) so maybe I will disconnect at starter relay and see if that leaves it rideable for now. Ran good so looking forward to real test drive. Thanks for the help.

It sounds sort of like the starter button is stuck closed. It's not a complex circuit so it should be easy to find the issue. I would begin by disassembling the starter switch housing. Just a button, a spring and some contacts.
