If you have the tires I would just measure them to see how wide they are. Yes they will change a bit when actually mounted but not that much.

I don't use charts. I use the actual numbers on the tire.

100/90-16

16 is the rim diameter in inches.

100 is the width of the tire in millimeters. 100mm equals 3.9".
90 is the height of the tire but its a percentage of the width. In this case 90% of 100mm is 90mm. So the height of the tire is about 3.5".

Most inch size tires had a 100% ratio unless otherwise specified, so a 3.5" wide tire was also 3.5" tall.

All that said tires vary to much from specified size on the sidewall. Were one tire might rub from being to wide, another in the same size of a different brand may fit with a 1/4" gap

White Wall Paint

Post by conbs » Fri Apr 10, 2015 8:39 pm

Hunter,

Before you try to apply white wall paint I would encourage you to study up on the experience of others who have gone before you. I am not saying don't use it. Only that there does seem to be some tricks to getting good results.

The problem seems to be the oils in the rubber leach through the white and turn it brown. Don't try it on new tires. I suggest leaving them in the sun to drive out as much of the volatiles as possible. Also, it might be worthwhile to scrub them with good soapy water to get as much off the surface as possible.

Search this site. There has been a lot of discussion about it.

Let us know how things turn out and best wishes on your project.

Conbs, you got me thinking after your post and I did lok at some of the discussions here. on further thought, I think I may go with Portawalls as most seem to have good results with them. Asthey list a few sizes, does anyone have a recommendation for the whitewall thickness?

I run 100/90-16 Kenda K761 front and rear on mine and they look awesome and fit fine.
