Mine has 17,500 on it. I have no idea whether there has been work done on it in the past. The previous owner didn't do any.

It's still running fine, doesn't smoke or use oil.

Owning my CB77 from new I travelled approximately 30000 miles before the crankshaft bearings required replacement. I think it was similar for the pistons and rings. oil changes were sort of regular at 1000 mile intervals. I am now on the 4th crankshaft at 130000 miles but i am not to sure whwn the rings were changed. It was about 20 years ago. most of the mileage was on long trips which seemed to help the engine life. It is Japanese not British.

My CB77 had exactly 60000kilometers on the odo when I bought.

Don't know much of it's riding history since the previous owner bought it 12years ago from a farmer, who also had this bike 'standing around'
The previous owner bought it with the intention for parts, since he raced with CB77's.
He has raced with the famous Jack Middelburg on the circuit he told me.

Anyway, it turned out, he never needed parts.
So who knows how long it was standing still... maybe more then 20 years.

So 60000kilometer im pretty sure, 20years of standing still, and it's going mighty strong, plenty of power in every rpm range, and uses no oil at all.

I once did 140kilometer/hour on the highway with eas, I didn't wanted to go any faster since it's an old bike, but im pretty sure it can reach it's top speed of 160km/h , since it still had a lot of power left.

But it's an old bike and you don't want to push the thing to it's limits, I don't see the point in doing that.

But I don't think the engine has ever been overhauled, it also got a few brewses here and there, the primary chain from the gearbox also probably snapped some time since there are a few repair spots to be seen...

And oja, when I bought there where some serious spark plugs in there ! NGK 12's !
Those are plugs that you use to race.

So maybe there is a small chance that this bike was on the track together with Jack, but I probably will never know that.
But the history of this bike was pretty hard if I may guess, primary gearbox chain's don't snap without any reason and NGK 12 plugs don't go in there without any serious reason to do so !

Hi ed,

Maybe someone replaced the odometer ?
If the first pistons are in there, I'm sure the bike didn't 60000km.

I don't know what pistons are in there, never checked, the previous owner said he left the bike in running condition, and a few times a year he kicked the bike over a few times so that the engine would not seize, he sure knew what he was doing and talking about.

The bike runs great, haven't got a clue about the tranny, or pistons, the only thing I checked was the oil pump.

If it runs good, don't touch it :)
