Yeah, and it's in excellent condition too! I will definitely post more pics soon. Just need to get it running. Not sure what the problem is yet. The dealership said they got it fired up with no problem. Hmm :/ Battery seems a bit weak.

I know this is after the fact for daywalker, but someone else out there might want this nice set: eBay item #290927651200. Buy it now for $180, or jump into the bidding war ($90 at time of this posting). Ends in the afternoon of June 13th.

A re-do of this post: I did have the key in the correct position when I tried to start it. Explanation of how all played out from there is below.

Dust Covers, Make Them

Post by turtle racer » Sun Jun 09, 2013 7:44 am

I quickly made a set of dust covers to see if I could, and what they would look like. I used thin sheet metal, pop rivets, and a vice and hammer to makes the bends.

I made a mockup of cardboard. Using the mockup as a template I cut the sides, then I cut the two faces of the covers with tabs that I bent at 90 deg to pop rivet to. After assembly I sealed the edges with a little home window sealer and painted. I used a threaded rod with a nuts/jam nuts as stops on the inside of the covers to space the sides apart and acorn nuts on the outside to hold the sides together with the right covered screwed to the bike like the original.

Quick and dirty first attempt. I sure someone else could do a much better job. I'm not currently using them, I need longer coil wires.

Look here, you can see them in one of the pictures.

Well. Good news and bad news. Good news first. I was trying to start it with the key in the right position. Further inspection revealed that the wire on the coil was snapped off. All it needs is a solder gun to fix that. When I taped the wire down it fired right up. Here's the bad news. The engine sounds very loud and rattles a lot. I have someone coming out to check out what it is exactley. Before I get that fixed, I won't be riding it :( Hopefully I get it in good running order soon.

Nice job on the dust cover by the way. I'm so glad mine was there and in great condition. I love when my bikes are complete.
