will a rear wheel off a 1966 Honda 305 Dream work on a 1961 Honda 305 Dream

I don't see why not. I'm not an expert on it or anything, but I would think the year difference wouldn't change the tire fit.

Early versus late wheel

I am pretty sure the same swingarm, spacer and axle were used throughout production, so I think the wheels should interchange.

I think you will have to use a matching brake plate for the wheel you use. The hubs and brake plates did change.

The sleeve that the axle goes through on the sprocket side did change, but I am not sure what the difference is.

You should do a thorough search of this site to make sure no one tired this before and it ended up not working.

I know for a fact the front wheels is different........................be careful. I had to do a little work for a 65 to work on a 61.
