Not sure on that. All I've ever seen where narrow whites as original, but I saw a lot of those back in the day.

I agree, Benji at Treatland is to be commended just for engaging in a discussion about getting a whitewall. If this idea were to work out, all of the Dream community would owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

I hope other Sava users will post as well.
It would be ideal if the speed rating could be bumped a bit, of course. My Slovenian bike weighs less than I do, fully-loaded, and its maximum sustained speed is about 40 mph.

Speed Rating

Post by conbs » Thu May 09, 2013 8:53 am

ktran, Per the initial post, the speed rating for these particular tires is 62 mph with a 467lbs per tire load rating. That speed rating is probably right at the limit, but I very rarely get over 60 mph on my Dream just because the motor gets wound up pretty tight to do it.

Still, in my emails with Benji I have asked about possibly getting the speed rating bumped up just a little while adding the whitewall.

The Sava Rep is out til the 12th. We'll see what he says then.

Anybody else interested in a set of new white walls for $100 if it can be done.

I would certainly be interested in a set if they could provide a definitive front v.s. rear tread pattern that was more modern. I have a set of the Cokers and the tread is a bit dodgy.

If they were rated for around 80 mph and had whitewalls at that price I think I could convince my buddy into going with them.

tires

I would be down for ordering a set. I would prefer the largest size whitewall they will do, starting at the rim... If they will have the original 9/16" whitewall I will just get some blackwalls. To me that small thin whitewall that starts away from the rim is hideous, again IMO... For under $100 for a set of tires is pretty cheap still. I know I've put michelin gazelles on my cb200 before and they were like $30 each if I remember correctly and I think they had a decent speed rating ~70mph? If we can order/get them soon, they have the larger whitewall, and they're =/<$100 then you can count me in for a set.
