:?:
I have a very early C72 dream, but the frame and engine numbers confuse me.
Frame C72-62-212373
Engine C72E-2113236
This is the bike with the frog-eye tank, square turn signals and the pressed steel handlebars.
The frame appears to be a 1962 (?)
But the motor has to many numbers for an early bike. Is this a late motor in my early bike? Is this an import from another country?
Please do not give me any informatoin that you are not certain of. I have looked at all three of Bill's books but have not found an answer.

What year is my Dream?Larry: I also have a 62 model with similar frame and engine numbers. My bike is a CB77 japanese domestic model. If you will look at Bill's restoration book again he talks about Honda adding a check digit usually a 1 like CB77E-X1XXXX. The next year (63) the frame and engine had 6 digits each. Your bike has the year stamped in the frame number-62 like mine. This was the case on early european and domestic models. Many so called early Honda experts have never seen this and will argue that the engine and frame don't match. Remove the second digit on the engine number(the check digit) and your frame number will be close to the engine number (usually)within 200. Buck
