Side cover bolt setSide cover bolt setI bought a side cover bolt set for my 305 off Ebay and it leads you to believe it is a full set. It is a stainless steel allen head set. The set doesn't contain the long bolt on the left side that is in the front of the smaller cover. The seller says he doesn't have one to fit it. But in his ad you would think it's a full set. He does list the sizes in his set but until you pull all the bolts out you don't know the lengths of them. I have checked locally for one with no luck.
Does anyone know where you can buy just one bolt? It looks to be about 115 mm long or about 4.5 inches.
Re: Side cover bolt setGood question, I would like to find a source also. I just checked www.mcmaster.com and they only go as high as 80mm in Steel Philips Pan Head x6 and 90mm in Stainless. I suppose that if bad come to worse maybe the best bet would be to buy #6 threaded rod, cut to length, and use acorn (chrome?) caps. George
I've fitted stainless 'cap' head Allens and managed to find a local supplier with just two M6 x 150mm bolts, with 20mm of thread (for those who are unfamiliar with engineering terms, 'bolts' are partially-threaded; fully-threaded are called 'machine' or 'set' screws). I carefully, slowly and with plenty of oil, threaded the extra with an M6 die and cut it to length.
It's an odd-sized bolt, for that location, so this may be the only option open to us? Fastenal has a 120mm but the local stores near me don't have them.
Not sure the threads are the same. http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/prod ... dql8&Nty=0
