Removing old engine paint

Post by Maloymerc » Tue Jun 09, 2009 6:07 am

Hey guys, can anyone give me advice on how to remove old paint from the engine? The old paint is chipped and discolored and just looks ugly to me.

Is there a way besides sandblasting?

There should only be paint on the two side covers on the engine and you could use paint stripper or just sand it off.

thanks joe...well the engine itself-head and block were previuosly painted when i bought the bike, so it looks kinda nasty now that its chipped and tarnished...

i'm trying to stay away from sandblasting....

Good luck then!Sounds like you just need to use some paint stipper and wire brush or something.Have fun...
