VIN/Year Model Help?
VIN/Year Model Help?I have a chance to purchase what I believe to be a 60's something model 305 Dream. I looked on the front neck, frame area where they put VIN numbers today, and cannot find any numbers. Someone told me that the motor number and the VIN were the same back in those days? The owner cannot find the title. I have TXDOT researching the motor numbers as if it were the VIN. The plate expired in 1977 and has been reissued to another motorcycle(no help there). This is a restore project that I can get for $200.00 if I can get a title. The motor was running when it was stored 15-20 years ago. Thanks for the help in advance.
Questions: 1. Is the motor number the same as the VIN? 2. Can anyone help me with a year model by this motor number? (CA77E-1022105) 3. The bike has handlebars that has two cross bars. I have never seen these bars on any other Dream. Any insight on these bars? Are they original? The VIN # is down on the frame below the brake light switch and below the left corner of battery if that makes sense. They are usually covered in crud so they are hard to see.Motor and engine #'s did not match but were within 100 numbers give or take I believe.I never saw one that was stock with cross-bars.The owner should be able to apply for a lost title unless he did not have it in his name.Just need to get the VIN off the frame.
vin numberVIN bike was registered under may be engine number, not frame number. It is on my bike.
