Picked up my dream today (pics)
Re: Picked up my dream today (pics)I found the oil capacity stamped, right where you fill it. Gee, that makes sense! I poured oil down both jugs and let it sit over night. I went to turn it over and she is nice and smooth. She also seems to have good compression. I couldn't get a spark however. I tried the key in every position. I later read on here that you need to have a battery in the bike to create spark. The carb looked ok too. Do you think I'll have any problems reusing the jets? They all look ok with the exception of the idle circuit (i think that's what it is) but it looks like it'd clean up well. There was a lot of mouse house and crap in, around and under the airbox. It was nasty. I had to put on a rubber glove to get it and I still haven't gotten it all. Re: Picked up my dream today (pics)RKP, Great pics. For sure get a battery! The carb should be easy enough to clean up. Get a spray can of carb cleaner, disassemble, and wash! Next, write Tomcat and tell him how much fun this is. Steve Greer
Re: Picked up my dream today (pics)Thanks Kustom. Photography is another one of my hobbies. Did you get the email I sent you? I'm not far away in Michigan City. Do you have a prefered technique to remove rust and clean the cast aluminum parts. I've been using a super fine brass wool which works pretty well on some of the chrome. Also, do you know of a place where i can find the OEM boot and airbox?

Thanks again,

Seems like your the only active member here ??
Re: Picked up my dream today (pics)HI G, There are some others that are fairly active too,Ryan from Dayton is one. Got an E-mail from him today(thanks Ryan). Yours too, thanx. I stumbled across this web site some time ago and in reading through it I realized it was really a good thing for us with the 305 intrest so I decided to chat it up some and see if we couldn't get it moving more.So who knows, hope things pick up some. The rust thing; brass wool with car wax works well for me on rusty parts,if they are not to far gone. Alum. I use sandpaper- fine, and then I use a Baldor buffer set-up I have in my shop and the wax sticks The buffing suppliers have. The aluminum comes out like chrome! Again if it's not to far gone. There is some direct connection to how much "elbow grease" you use. I don't know for sure which would have the parts you need but I can send some addys if you want em. Steve Greer

1965 Honda CA77 Dream 1996 Honda CBR 900 RR Re: Picked up my dream today (pics)Hi , I'm really late,so maybe you don't need it any more. But maybe you do. I've got a 68' 305 DREAM. I have five ignition switch dots. The first one all the way down, counterclockwise, has a red dot. This position locks the key in the switch. The second position, clock wise, the key can be removed from the switch. The third postion turns the power on to start the bike by foot or starter. The fourth turns on the headlight and brake light. The last position turns off all power except for brake light. It is used when you brake down so you will have visability.
I don't know if your 65's the same. But hopefully they are. Enjoying the pictures of your restoration. KIP
