Buco Twinmaster Saddle Bag Mounting

Post by gbc » Tue Nov 14, 2023 9:46 pm

I have purchased a set of Buco Twinmaster Bags for my newly acquired 1969 Dream CA77. They are in pretty rough condition but came with mounting hardware, are the parts for a Honda Dream, a very good question. Does anyone have any photos of how you have Buco's mounted on a Dream I could use as reference. This is my first Dream and I am looking forward to bringing both the bike and bags back to pristine condition. Thanks so much in advance.......

Welcome to the honda305 Forum!

I have a pair of Buco mounting brackets for a Dream, IIRC. They are in storage right now, but I'll post a few photos once I get them on the bench.

In the meanwhile, post a few photos of what you have for brackets in your set...

Thank you Michael, that would be greatly appreciated. The mounting system I have is for a BMW I believe, it has rounded hoops that the bag brackets bolt too, It is also missing one piece, the long bracket that has the bar that snaps into the bottom of the bag (#2 in the attachment) and there are no muffler clamps. I have not be able to post any pictures, the response is the photos are too large. I am thinking I am going to have to fabricate some additional brackets in conjunction with what I currently have. I am a attaching a set of Buco mounting directions I found on the web that show a system similar to the pieces that came with the bags. I have been a member here for quite awhile, done a number of CL77's but this is my first Dream.

Thank you Dan, that is correct set up for a Dream, nice to know that they do exist. I have found one mounting bracket (where the bag pins go through and turn into place) and fabricated one of the down braces that has the bent bar that snaps into the bottom of the bag that I was missing. The pin brackets that came with my set did not have the correct angles, the hole spacing was the same, but they did not kick out enough to clear a Dream top shock bolt. With a lot of heat, hammering, and bending I got them to work after completely flattening them and reshaping. I also fabbed up a couple of muffler brackets out of aluminum strapping. The set is not pretty, but will work. I am still looking for factory correct system for a Dream CA77, but if one is not out there I will go with me fabricated set up.;.
