CL72 FRONT BRAKE UPGRADE

Post by Littlewin » Sun Oct 15, 2023 9:20 am

Hello everebody
Any one with experience swapping the mediocre front brake on the CL72 with a CL/CB 77 DLS brake and or forks.
Thanks

If you have the original and the less common configuration on your bike, don't rush to replace it. The CL72 stuff is typically scarce and valuable for the originality of the CL72 design. I am sure you can swap in the larger components, but be sure to save all of the original parts.

Much of the charm of a CL72 is in its original configuration; e.g., Small brakes, Steel front forks, Alloy fenders, high straight through pipes w/baffles. A Large Brake conversion will require alloy front forks, a six-hole front fender stay and steel fender, cables and fittings for the big brake setup.

Big brakes (borrowed from the CB450) are great for a CL77 (photo)

.

But as Michael says, don't be in a rush!
