First ride

Post by team roper » Mon May 16, 2016 7:13 pm

This afternoon I took my 1967 Honda Scrambler for a ride down the paved country road that I live on. This was the first time I had rode the bike since I purchased it last summer. It started on the 2nd kick (after I remembered to turn the key on), I warmed it up, clicked it into gear and off we went. Everything worked flawless. Engine ran crisp, the clutch release was smooth with no slipping. I didn't push the old girl to hard but the power band was very even and that signature sound was music to my ears. When I was in high school, I thought the Honda Scrambler was the coolest motorcycle ever. In the 60's there were a bunch of these bikes around, but I never had a chance to own one. After my ride today on a mild spring afternoon, on a sweet old CL77, I understand why I have always admired these bikes.
Thanks for listening,

George

Sometimes a casual ride is the best kind, where you can just go back in your mind to an era that's ended. The sounds of these vintage machines are definitely music to the ears, especially when you can recognize it first hand from the '60's. The CL77 really did have a signature sound, I love listening to mine whenever I ride it as well.
Good luck with your bike, they're really a joy to ride!
