License Plate Holder

Post by sibes67 » Tue Nov 20, 2012 7:18 pm

Is this stock for a 66 CL? The mounting plate is much larger than the new license plates here, which I just got from the state. Also, holes in mounting plate do not match up with new plate either.
I have seen other mounting brackets/tail light assemblies that can adapt to the holes in license plates, so just wondering if this is some after market deal on my rear fender or a Bubba-upped deal? Thanks.
Ron

Not stock. Either added to back the plate up or fixing a broken plate mount.

License Plate Bracket

For most of you that are a lot younger than I, years ago there were some states that utilized the full regular sized plates that were for autos/trucks. I believe it was a dealer addition for those particular states. JMHO I thought I was wrong once, but found I was mistaken.
Unfortunaterly, I had to sell all my bikes due to health issues, but intend to continue to "help" out where/when I can. Have to keep the old knowledge ball rolling. Charlie AKA cbxmountainman.

Thanks for the knowledge and pics, I will probably make my plate holder "work somehow".

There is an original plate holder on EBay I see its a buy it now for $30.00 with free shipping. Worst case you could rattle can spray it red and install. Or get it painted at a body shop.

Good Luck

Jon
